Why dish soap and laundry detergent damage your car's paint

In Pakistan, it's still common to see cars washed with Surf Excel, dishwashing liquid, or bar soap — mainly because it's what's already in the house. The problem is that these products are formulated to cut grease on dishes and fabric, not to protect automotive clear coat. They're highly alkaline, which strips wax layers, dries out rubber trims and seals, and leaves behind micro-residue that dulls the paint over repeated washes. How to use Alclean car wash shampoo

1. Rinse the car first with plain water to remove loose dust and grit — washing over dry dirt is what causes scratches and swirl marks, not the shampoo itself.

2. Dilute the shampoo in a bucket of clean water.

3. Apply with a soft microfiber wash mitt or sponge, working top to bottom in sections rather than the whole car at once.

4. Rinse thoroughly with clean water before it dries on the panel.

5. Dry with a clean microfiber towel to avoid water spots.

For pressure washers or foam guns/foam cannons, use a lower concentration in the foam tank than in a bucket wash — check your equipment's foam lance settings, since output ratios vary by machine.
