A cheesy pizza, a creamy pasta, a nicely smoked or roasted chicken, some other spicy, oily dish – all these yummy foods bring happiness and delight to us. But they also create a lot of mess in our pots and pans, which make it extremely difficult to clean them properly. You’ll spend hours scrubbing them, hurting your hands and wasting valuable time.
As always, Alclean is here for your help. We bring you amazing tips with which you’ll easily get away with stubborn stains and tough burns of pans and pots made with different materials.
Aluminum
Your pots, pans, utensils are probably made of aluminum. To clean the interior of a discolored aluminum pot, fill it with water. For each quart of water in the pot, add 2 tablespoons of cream of tartar and ½ cup of vinegar. Bring the water to a boil and let boil for 10 minutes. Remove from heat, pour the cleaner out and let the pot cool to touch. Wash as normal with soap and hot water. For tough stains, you may need to scrub gently with a steel wool pad.
Stainless Steel
Simply wash your pan with vinegar and rinse with water to remove discoloration. Additionally, vinegar can be used to rid your pan of white calcium build-up stains. Make a mixture of one part vinegar to three parts water and boil in the affected pot or pan. Allow the mixture to cool, empty the pan, and wash as normal.
Glass
Never use abrasive cleaners on glass! These would be scouring powder, steel wool, soap pads, and knives. Moisten the sponge or soft cloth with water. Pour a couple of teaspoons of baking soda onto the cloth or directly into the glass cookware. Scrub the burnt areas with the baking soda and soft cloth until they are removed. If the stains remain, rinse with water. Rinse and repeat if necessary.
Copper
Use ketchup as a polish for copper. Ketchup is acidic and as such- will take that tarnish right off. It also works on polishing silver and brass. Simply squirt ketchup onto your copper and rub it around a bit with your hands to cover the whole area and let it sit for about 15 minutes. Start rubbing that ketchup in with your sponge and rinse and repeat. Ketchup doesn’t clean the whole thing by itself but it does shine the copper up and you will see a bright new finish come through.
